The 2024 flu vaccine is now open for booking. Let’s check who is eligible for the free flu vaccine and how to register. Where can I get the vaccine?

Because influenza often spreads during the rainy season, public health agencies recommend getting a flu vaccine once a year, depending on the strain of the virus that changes every year, especially in risk groups who, if infected, may have more severe symptoms than the general population and die.  

  For this reason, the Ministry of Public Health is allowing people at risk to get vaccinated against the flu in 2024 for free. You can make a reservation through many channels, including the Paotang application. Anyone who wants to register, come and study the details.

Free flu vaccination: Who is eligible?

Those who can book a free flu vaccination appointment in 2024 with the Ministry of Public Health and the National Health Security Office (NHSO) must be in the following 7 risk groups: 

• Young children aged 6 months to 2 years
• People with 7 chronic diseases: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, kidney failure, cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and diabetes.
• Mentally disabled people who cannot help themselves
• Thalassemia and immunocompromised people (including symptomatic HIV-infected people)
• Obesity (weighing more than 100 kilograms or BMI more than 35 kilograms per square meter)
• Elderly people aged 65 years and over
• Pregnant women, 4 months pregnant or more (service available all year round)

          In this regard, all healthcare rights can be vaccinated, whether it is the gold card, civil servant rights, etc.

          For the general public who are not eligible for free flu vaccination, they can get vaccinated at a cost at general hospitals. We have compiled the prices of flu vaccines in Bangkok and its vicinity for your consideration here.

When can I get a free flu shot?

 You can book a free flu vaccination appointment from May 1 – August 31, 2024. This year, we will still use the Southern Hemisphere vaccine as recommended by the World Health Organization, which covers protection against three strains of influenza viruses: strain A (H1N1), strain A (H3N2), and strain B Victoria.

Where can I get a free flu shot?

 People in the 7 risk groups with all healthcare rights can get the 2024 influenza vaccine free of charge through 4 convenient channels.

          1. Contact the regular service unit or hospital or the ยูฟ่าเบท service unit in the National Health Security System (NHSO), whether it is a government hospital, sub-district health promotion hospital (sub-district health promotion hospital), public health service center in Bangkok and the Warm Community Clinic that participates in the project. You can see the list in the Pao Tang application, “Health Wallet” tab.

          2. If you live in Bangkok, you can reserve your vaccination rights in advance through the Paotang  “Health Wallet” app . The system will start providing services from May 1, 2024 onwards or until the vaccine runs out.

          3. Those who are in Bangkok but are not comfortable booking via the Paotang app, please contact any NHSO service unit in the system.

          4. Make an appointment via the NHSO hotline at 1330, press 8.

          However, booking an appointment for service depends on the conditions of each service unit. If you cannot make an appointment, we recommend that you contact the service unit directly.
